PDX tilt shift

yesterday i found a link to the website tiltshiftmaker.com, which allows you to upload photos and create cool tilt shift effects, much like in the old mister rogers tv show. it’s definitely a fun web app, and it makes the effect easy to create without having to spend tons of money on a tilt shift lens or learning how to duplicate the effect in photoshop.

anyhow, here’s my experiment with the site, using an aerial photo i took of downtown portland from on board the OHSU aerial tram almost two years ago. click on the image thumbnail to view a larger version on flickr! -h

ah, fall… the rain is here, the darkness comes earlier and lifts later, and the almost-constant grey cloud cover here in the northwest is keeping with the trend. i’m listening to music from the innocence mission and damien jurado and wondering what surprises the season will bring. writing is starting to come out a little more here and there. overall, the mood is darker, more tired and filled with longing…

on saturday, i ended up doing something i promised myself i’d never do: ride the brand new aerial tram that extends from portland’s willamette river waterfront up to the hospital at OHSU.

at least i had my camera along…
