speak up, stop the racism and hatred

robert greenwald and the fine folks over at brave new films are making it easy for people like you and me to send a message to john mccain and sarah palin’s campaign, calling on them to stop campaigning with a message of hatred and racial prejudice. watch the video below, then please, take a minute of your time to click the link below and send your message to john mccain that this rhetoric has no place in american politics. -h

the unlawful maverick

a bipartisan legislative investigation in alaska today concluded that sarah palin “unlawfully abused her authority in firing the state’s public safety commissioner.”

after all that’s happened in the political landscape this week, especially all the accusations made by palin herself about obama, her credibility is now officially toast. this is a blatant ethics law violation, and consisted of not 1 or 2, but 19 separate phone calls by both palin and her husband trying to get his ex-brother-in-law fired.

apparently, a maverick is someone who roams the countryside spreading hatred and racism after abusing power and public office for their own personal gain, at least if you use her own quotes against her. of course, now she’ll blame political partisanship for this report - even though the investigation was launched before she was even tapped to be the VP nominee - because that’s just what a maverick does!

did i mention already how she does not deserve to be anywhere near the white house? i think i did, but i’m not sure…

can you say desperate?

over the weekend, the desperation in the mccain camp reached new highs(or would that be lows?) as sarah palin went on the attack against obama by saying he “pals around with terrorists” - a charge debunked by the associated press, and one that had already been brought up and discarded during the democratic primaries.

the accusation was based on his very loose affiliation with bill ayers, a former member of the weather underground - someone who is no longer involved in terrorism. ayers now lives near obama, serves with the same charity obama does, and who once hosted a “meet the candidate” for obama back in the 90’s. ayers’ terrorist acts were committed when obama was only 8 years old, and he is now a private citizen whose kids go to the same school as the obama children. furthermore, obama has already denounced the radical views and former actions of the weather underground.

and so, mccain/palin throw yet another hail mary, showing that there is no low too low for them, especially when there’s only a month until the election and they are sliding even deeper in the polls after palin’s poor debate performance and mccain’s last hail mary of “suspending” his campaign.

as palin stated, “the heels are on, the gloves are off,” and apparently so is her intelligence if she thinks the american people don’t see this for what it really is - a desperate smear to try and distract people from the fact that the mccain campaign has absolutely no solutions for the true issues that face america this election season. -h

olbermann: mccain should know better

this is yet another profound special comment from countdown with keith olbermann that i thought worthy of passing on. for mccain, someone who touts his military veteran status as giving him more experience over obama in the race for the presidency, he should DEFINITELY know better than to say it’s “not important” to bring our troops home.

this hits home for me on a number of levels, but primarily because my older brother alex ships out tomorrow for a new 15 month deployment in iraq. he’s a fine soldier, a patriot, and he will be missed. please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
