this is yet another profound special comment from countdown with keith olbermann that i thought worthy of passing on. for mccain, someone who touts his military veteran status as giving him more experience over obama in the race for the presidency, he should DEFINITELY know better than to say it’s “not important” to bring our troops home.
this hits home for me on a number of levels, but primarily because my older brother alex ships out tomorrow for a new 15 month deployment in iraq. he’s a fine soldier, a patriot, and he will be missed. please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.

i encourage everyone who is capable of voting this year to check out barack obama… even if you think you know him, if only from the soundbites on television[which are often very misleading], please take one more good honest look at him. check out his website at barackobama.com and find out more about his campaign.
your vote is your vote – it shouldn’t have anything to do with hype from one side or the other – but please, take another look.

i saw the following back in black segment the other night on the daily show, and enjoyed lewis’ take on how both sides of the senate seem intent on doing just about anything but their job. crooks and liars has the video…

edit: and while you’re there, don’t miss jon stewart on our “meta-president”.
as if to further add to the recent report about emperor bush’s hooked-on-phonics-inspired speech teleprompts, he manages to stick his foot even further into his mouth yesterday with the Instant Bush Classic™: “childrens do learn.”
at least he managed to answer his previous question… “is our children learning?”
coming up tomorrow: watch white house spokeswoman dana perrino spin the story! turns out, the emperor was just poking fun at himself! oh… what a jokester!

EDIT: finally some good news on the judicial front: a federal judge here in portland finds parts of the patriot act unconstitutional.
