last night the server migration for stephenh.net and companyofh.com was completed, which means…

1. no more overloaded shared server hosting! of course, i’m still not on a dedicated box, but this virtual dedicated server setup seems to be more stable and faster thus far.

2. virtual dedicated server means additional application flexibility. one major benefit of this so far is that i now have active caching ability, which means that even with heavy traffic, my server should be able to keep up just fine. less database queries = faster service! sweet.

3. easier development long-term. this doesn’t really benefit you at all, except that i’ll be able to add more features quicker and easier, and hopefully have more time to make them prettier and easier to use. the big news here is that i’m planning a major website design overhaul, which should take place soon, and when it launches i intend to put a shopping cart in place and offer prints and paintings and books for sale. i know, you can hardly contain yourself, but it’s not ready yet. stay tuned.

4. on the negative side, i did decide to do away with the comics portion of my site for white shirt, philosopher. so, right now if you try to pull up stephenh.net/comics it won’t get you anywhere.

anyhow, now that that’s all done, if you notice any other errors popping up, do let me know by leaving a comment or sending me an email to the address at the bottom of the page.

thanks as always for stopping by. here’s a pretty picture for your trouble.
